Made from 63% Malbec and 36% Shiraz all taken from our historic Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard. The two parcels of the base wine were made separately, aged in oak barriques for 8 months and handled very delicately to preserve pure red fruit flavour characteristics. Both parcels were then carefully blended for secondary fermentation in bottle. The Cuve e Rouge was matured on yeast lees for 3 years to increase complexity and texture to the wine, which was then disgorged in August 2014.
A record amount of winter rainfall meant all growers had a lot of pressure on them through the growing season to manage their vineyards closely, however the rainfall provided for healthy crops and canopies. Where the rain continued indisastrous amounts throughout most of the country, a high system sat idle over the Hunter Valley providing idealgrowing conditions from Christmas through to March.
Deep purple with violet hues.
Rich black currant, mocha and spice.
Fresh cherries and mulberry flavours on the palate with a fine and persistent mousse and creamy notes. Hints of savoury spice and mocha also give this wine complexity.
